Performance coach based in San Francisco.

Our Mission

Our modern world has made sustaining peak performance harder than ever. With so many distractions, how do we filter out all the noise to not just get the job done, but grow and thrive? The answer won’t be found in a “life hack.” Only through consistent and conscientious practice can we develop our ability to perform at our best at the things that matter most to us and become who we aspire to be.

Areas of Expertise

In my coaching practice I work with knowledge workers, executives, attorneys, students, entrepreneurs, and athletes on their performance and well-being in the following areas:

  • Foundational Habits

  • Change Management

  • Effective Leadership and Talent Development

  • Managing Up and Down

  • Increasing Self-Efficacy

  • Resiliency and Mental Toughness

  • Work-Life Harmony

About Me

Prior to joining The Growth Equation as COO and starting my performance coaching practice, I worked as a civil rights attorney and clinical law professor at Berkeley Law for over ten years before launching my own consulting business where I have partnered with athletes, events, start-ups, law firms, and small businesses to actualize success. My expertise in these areas has been featured in print and online publications including Outside, Ultrarunning Magazine, The Recorder, Triathlete, The Daily Journal and The San Francisco Chronicle and have been heard on NPR and CBS Radio.

When not working I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, writing, and engaging in athletic “feats of endurance.”

Client Testimonials

  • "Chris has been a big help on and off the field. Challenging conversations and work, yet also empathetic. He has made my off field life easier to enjoy by helping me maintain a healthy perspective on things. I wish we would have started to work together earlier in my career!"

    R.K., Professional Athlete

  • "Working with Chris has been an outstanding experience. From the start, he took the time to truly understand me—my goals, challenges, and what drives me. He consistently draws on insightful, high-quality materials that deepen our work together. Chris connects exceptionally well with people who have a consistent physical practice (or want to build one), helping bridge the mental and physical aspects of performance. I’ve grown tremendously through his coaching and highly recommend him to anyone serious about personal and professional growth."

    M.P., General Counsel

  • "I found Chris at just the right time. I'd recently stepped into a job requiring new levels of flexibility, discipline, and resilience. When I was overwhelmed with the challenges of the role, Chris shifted my perspective and helped me focus on the things that I could control and the positive change I was creating despite the challenges. Our work together reconnected me with the values that underpin/drive who I am as a leader which, in turn, accelerated my ability to succeed in (and enjoy!) my new role. Our work together was always practical, fun, and timely. In other words, it was just what I needed!"

    M.V., University Administrator

  • "Chris has been transformative for me. I came to Chris during a major career transition, and his ability to reframe my thinking changed everything. I see possibilities now that I simply couldn’t before, and his guidance has helped me cut through the noise, gain clarity, and focus my energy where it matters."

    P.S., C-Suite Executive

  • "Working with Chris has been truly transformative. He helped me uncover my core values—the things that matter most to me—and use them as a compass for making decisions in every part of my life. With his guidance, I learned to navigate challenging situations with clarity and confidence: from a major career transition after a layoff, to tough personal moments, to complex work dynamics. Chris has a remarkable way of asking the right questions and creating a space for deep reflection and growth. His coaching has had a lasting impact on how I show up in my career and life."
